The HDF5 Packet Table API is designed specifically for 'packet' data, data that arrives in streams of packets from instruments at potentially very high speeds. It allows records to be appended to and read from a table. These records can be of fixed length or of variable-length, with each record potentially having a different size on disk.
This API is available with the HDF5 1.8 release only. For information on it, refer to the Packet Tables API page.
